Please read my feminist page for more info of what I support as a feminist.
Thanks ;)
Feel free to contact me if you need an ear (someone to talk to), anything at all. I generally don't have anyone to talk to so I really don't mind it.

Okay Tumblr, I’m going to you because I’m unsure of what to do.

A financial institution (that shall go unnamed) has begun to show its true colors. In the last year they have fired two people (about to fire a third) - oddly enough they were all women that were either pregnant or had just had a baby. The moment this establishment discovered they were pregnant these women were suddenly under an immense amount of scrutiny, everything was done to make sure they were fired. Oh I’m sorry, they weren’t fired - they were FORCED to sign a document stating they “resigned.”  THEY WERE THREATENED TO DO THIS - they were told that were they not to sign their boss would then call all future employers and blacklist them. This is not okay. They are in the midst of firing a third, and once they do they will force her to reimburse them for the insurance they spent on her pregnancy after her inevitable “resignation.” They are doing this because they think these women will do nothing in response, and they’re right - unless these women find a lawyer that will either waive their fees or cost barely nothing, they can do nothing. That is why I’m coming to you. How do we get this ball rolling? How do we stop this? How do I help these women?

Please reblog this and help me spread the word. If you can’t help, hopefully someone else can.

EDIT: We are in the midst of contacting the ACLU but all help is still welcome on other possible advice or options.

Hey girl,

After enacting hundreds of pieces of legislation aimed at limiting a woman’s right to choose, gutting the Violence Against Women Act, and attempting to redefine rape, the GOP thinks they will win the women vote.

“…will win the women’s votes.”

I had to point it out.. it conflicts my brain.

  • Society: Fat women suck.
  • Society: Fat women are lazy and worthless.
  • Society: They're all slobs with no will power or self control.
  • Society: Also average sized women are actually fat asses. And unhealthy.
  • Society: Also, skinny women are anorexic bitches. All body types pretty much suck.
  • Society: Especially fat body types. They're the worst.
  • Women: ...I hate my body.
  • Society: WELL IT'S YOUR OWN FAULT YOU HAVE NO SELF CONFIDENCE.
  • Women: Well, I think society and the media are at least partially to blame. After all, when you're repeatedly told that you're not good enough, you tend to start believing it.
  • Society: NOPE NOPE ALL YOUR FAULT. DON'T GO BLAMING SOCIETY FOR EVERY THING WRONG IN YOUR LIFE. TAKE SOME PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. NOT EVERY THING IS SOMEBODY ELSE'S FAULT YOU KNOW.

The above can be translated as: “Since I decided you’re oppressed, you have no right to think or speak for yourself. I’m fighting for your rights, and that means you have no right to argue with me or disagree.”

This is THE largest problem about global feminism. You cannot step in and critique someone else’s culture! This is why feminism on a global scale is not united. You have to respect others cultures and let the women from other cultures approach you with what they deem oppressive and wish for your aid in fighting.

and I am not to fucking happy about it. My art teacher took my portfolio filled with cool femme drawings and creativity and magic and took it to my guidance counselor who told me to tone down my art!! WHTA THE FUCK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN? I guess my opinion on the sick body image of america is to much for that old man to handle. WELL FUCK HIM IM NOT STOPPING!

Just don’t bring it to school. Keep making it. They can’t do shit about it.

THAT is a bomb ass idea. It should happen. For my sake.

We all need to do it. Even hardcore feminists make mistakes.

so much truth.

An estimated 600 women served during the American Civil War. They had signed up disguised as men. Hollywood has missed a significant chapter of cultural history here - or is this history ideologically too difficult to deal with? Historians have often struggled to deal with women who do not respect gender distinctions, and nowhere is that distinction more sharply drawn than in the question of armed combat.
